Thursday of last week, the neighbor's kitty ended up in our house over night. Our two-year-old immediately claimed it as his. I spent all day Friday finding out which neighbor it belonged to, and Friday night the rightful kitty owner came to pick him up. Our son cried like his little heart was broken, and it was so pitiful that I cried, too. Needless to say, Saturday was spent on the great kitty hunt. We hit every shelter within an hour of us in every direction, and a few of the pet stores, and this was the only one that ranked as "Mine."
But so far, we're unable to come up with a name that our (very opinionated) two-year old will accept. So here are some pics, and if you have any suggestions at all, it'd be greatly appreciated! Kitty goes to the vet for a kitty check today, and they kinda want us to have a name for him.

Blue Bell
He is soooo cute :))
a boy I would call him muffin, a girl Luna
:)
how about "patches"...he looks like he has light colored patches over his white body....
Aww what a cutie, he brings back memories of one of my cats when he was that age. He looks like he might turn out to be a snowshoe, is he?
I usually go with historical names (I currently have Artemis and Apollo), but how about something like Spunky? Tigger? Simba? Whiskers?
Figuring a name is difficult!
He's rockin' that bling. I'd call him Elton or Liberace.. but I'm weird that way :)
Totally "Creamsicle"! Congrats on your new family member :)
I've had a habit of naming my pets after things I like throughout my life. My first cat was "Chocolate Vanilla Fudge" (because he needed a first, middle, and last name, of course!). My dad named the next one before I had the chance; but when I moved out and had my own kitty, her name was Yzma, from The Emperor's New Groove, and my current cat is Kaizoku, which is Japanese for "pirate". Maybe your choosy two-year old will like something related to what he's into. If he likes Cheerios, he could be Cheerio - he's kinda tan with white like cheerios in milk. :D Or Sandy or Surf, if he likes the sandbox or the beach.. these are more generic of course, I've no idea what he likes. Good luck! ^_^
The general view in our house is - try 'Zinger' or 'Julius'. (Apparently, say the gawkers over my shoulder, going 'OH HOW CUTE!' he needs a strong name.
My theory is that the name 'Mine' as your two year old has already entitled him, is perfectly acceptable, LOL.
My kids voted for the name "Gus". Of course that is what they named our cat and have declared all cats must be named Gus since theirs is :)
How cute he is!! I´d call him Gandalf...
First thing that came to my head when I saw him was Blueberry Milk for some reason. Go figure.
Anyway if you're two-year old calls him Mine then maybe something similar sounding so it would be easy and stuffs:) Like... er... Kain? Heh. That pronounces in my language like Mine only with K instead of M. Different in English, I suppose. Well yes, then again, who says kitty can't be named Mine:) I had a cat who ended up being Kass. Which means cat. And everyone was happy. Including the cat. Specially if there were sausages involved:P
So grats on your gorgeous new family member and take care!:)
he looks just like my boy.. who's name is "Clutch"...he was originally called "Karma", but the biker dude I live with thought that was too sissy..
I thought peanut when I saw him, because he looks so little ^^
Spike!
Haha, after the suggestion of peanut, I was looking at him again and he reminds me of these sandwiches my sister used to make me when I was a kid with peanutbutter and marshmallow Fluff. We called them Fluffernutter sandwiches. Doesn't he look like a Fluffernutter? :D
Fluffernutter would be a great name! I think that whatever you name him he will end up being called "Mine", maybe you should just go with that? We had a fish named fishy...
Omg. Kitty needs to come with me. He is so cute :), especially in the picture when he is playing.
I would like to steal him.. stealing.. thief.. Prince of Thieves.. Erm... Robin Hood..
Robin! Call him Robin :)
Kindle. :3
TOOOO cute awwww..too cute...
ehmm Bandit? He looks a lil bandit-sih in a fun way :D
We tried "Mine." And the response to that was "No! Mine!" lol
Some awesome names, and I'm totally loving creamsicle! I'll have to see what the little man thinks in the morning. We tried Thomas, cause he's really into trains, we tried all kinds of tractor/truck related names cause he loves those (I was voting for Tonka) but those have so far been no's.
I may have to enact the mama's decision rule here soon!
Spanky
I asked on Plurk and Twitter and people gave me: Hastur, Doggie, Cat5, Mint, Fido, Spike... Ok my friends are a bit weird.
All I know is avoid foods and hygiene products. My neighbor let their 3 year old name the dog, her name was Lettuce. And my nephew wanted to name a cat Toothpaste.
For some reason the name Skittles comes to mind.
Good Luck.
Tapioca Toes :)
Kitteh's adorable!
Spook?
BattleCat.
Named after the father of my two kittehs (who was that tiny and cute when the name was given to him).
How about:
Boo (since he's mostly white like a ghost)
Squidward (after the Spongebob character who isn't a squid either)
Bob (after Bob the Builder)
Homer (I had a white cat when I was little named this after the Greek poet, Mom named him not me)
Snickers (delicious!)
Chester (yes, the cheeto cheetah, but still a good cat name)
Clarence
Boris
Harry
Broccoli (or another food your son may nor may not like :) )
Koko
Sam
Moxie
Pixel
Powder
Rascal
George
Petey
Patches
I always wanted a cat named Sushi! Darling kitten!
Oscar :) Too cute!
Danny (from Cats Don't Dance), or Chuck (writer of Gay Purr-ee). Or Max.
