We're in a book!

Calla has been listed in the Second Life for Dummies book as the number 2 place to get hair! We are so honored to have been included.

Haedon received the following message:

[4:42] Typewriter Tackleberry: Just a note to let you know, Sarah "Intellagirl" Robbins and I mentioned your shop in Second Life For Dummies. Thanks for bringing quality to Second Life.

I didn't know anything about it and didn't get a message from them. I'm so far behind in keeping up with the blogs that it'll be next year before I have any idea what's going on.

She goes to look, and then messages me (cause that's what we do) and I go look.

While we honestly, truly appreciate it, and are honored to have been included, there's a very huge printing error.

HAEDON WAS LEFT OUT!!!

That's like the yin without the yang, or the peanut butter without jelly, or the coffee without peppermint! It's the Lily without the Hae! You just can't!

We also got credit for Eolande's Accessories.

I've taken the liberty of making a few corrections.

Woot! That's better.

Really sincere thanks to Mr Tackleberry and Ms Robbins for all of the effort that went into this publication, it seems to be a great guide. (<3 Amazon search inside.) We're proud that Calla was chosen.

And much congratulations go out to everyone else who was included in this book! It's so exciting to see so many fabulous creators receive mention!

/me is a total geek and ordered her copy today.

We're so glad you like it and thanks for pointing out the errors! We'll be sure to include them in the revisions before the book prints again.

Congratulations of making it into the book - but am I the only one that was somewhat disenchanted by the fact that "Intellagirl" seems to have neglected mentioning some of the biggest stores and content creators in Second Life in her so called lists of the "Top 10"?

To me this whole book is just another example of someone coming into Second Life to advertise or make a buck and not doing proper research.

Either way, Congratulations ladies. :)

Congratulations girls :D This is great!

Shame about the errors and what Sofia just said ^^ but i'm sure this book will be a fab start for the noobs all the same :)

If it was me I think I would have liked to have been asked before being put in a book, maybe facts could have been checked, Hae wouldn't have been left out and your name would have been spelt correctly in the title. It's Tigerlily not Tigerlilly, doh! And when it comes to Calla, there ain't no Lily without the Hae!

*Leaving your blog before people start throwing things at me*

We tried really hard to be sure that all names and locations were correct but a combination of tight deadlines and copy editors who are unfamiliar with SL naming conventions made for a few errors. We're collecting any and all errors for correction in future printings. It's really important to us that all these details be correct so readers can find what, we think, are the best and most interesting spots in SL.
As for our choices for the lists, we conducted a few polls to collect recommendations from the public and combined those with out-of-the-way places that we didn't think got enough attention for their awesome work. I wish we could have listed hundreds more but, alas, the book could only be so long.
Besides, no list could ever be definitive. SL changes so fast that we could never keep up. We think it's a good start and we hope people like it.
Thanks!

I totally didn't notice that my name was spelled wrong in the Table of Contents! I probably would have when I get my RL book though. I hope.

Intellagirl, we really appreciate it! I'm sure a ton of work went into gathering all the info. There are always mistakes in anything published.

It's interesting to know how you made the choices of which shops to include! Thanks for sharing that. I especially appreciate that you picked some of the places that don't get enough recognition for their fabulous work!

And yay Lexi! They can fix you, too! Well, your name anyway. ;)

Intellagirl, you cannot go wrong with the store that won the best overall hair store for the 2007 Savvy Awards. :) Great choice!
